Born in London to Nigerian parents, Lyric L’s early and enduring musical influences came from home. Her father loved African jazz, gospel, High Life, Oriental Brothers and King Sunny Ade. “He used to entertain us when we were young by making human beatbox, chest tap-drum sounds and playing his hands as wind sounds … plus my Mommie dances and sings in her own key of happiness to this very day. That vibe and energy continues in my current works.”
Family chatterbox and entertainer, basketball player and now respected lyricist, LyricL channeled her creative energy by writing and performing, entering music competitions and later honing her wit in rap battles.
After earning her well deserved recognition and respect as one of UK Hip-Hop’s leading female MCs, LyricL propelled into the Broken Beat circuit with dancefloor classic, “Loose Lips.”
